Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address, so the right local contractor gets your request
- New project or repair, and roughly how big the area is
- Patio, walkway, driveway, fire feature or wall
- Whether the yard slopes or has heaved or sunken spots
- A photo or two of the area, if you have them
Planning to dig? Colorado 811 says every property owner must request a free utility locate before digging, no matter how shallow, with at least two full business days' notice. Your contractor normally handles this for the job.
